Nevada County Woods Riders
an off-road and dual-sport motorcycle club

About the Woods Riders

Woods Riders enjoy exploring the trails and back roads of Nevada County, California, surrounding Sierra mountain forests, and Nevada’s vast desert.

The Nevada County Woods Riders Motorcycle club (NCWR) brings together off-road motorcycle enthusiasts to enjoy trail rides and fun activities. NCWR promotes responsible trail use, advocates off-road vehicle (OHV) access rights, and fosters trail improvement programs with the Tahoe National Forest Service.

Nevada County Woods Riders is a not-for-profit motorcycle club based in Grass Valley, California. NCWR is a chartered member of American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and District 36.

Come to our neck of the woods and join in on the fun. Come to a meeting to check it out. General meetings are normally on the 1st Wednesday of the Month at Trailblazers Craft Pizza & Brews in Auburn (see the Event Calendar for details).

See the Contact Us page
 for NCWR contacts.

2025 Mason Ride

Another great "Mason Ride" this year from Grass Valley to Auburn. What a great event to give someone with physical challenges the opportunity to get out and ride with a club.

Thanks to all who participated.

2025 Downieville Epic

Yesterday, volunteers were able to complete Pauly Creek Reroute at the 2025 Downieville Epic. This was our 3rd year working on the reroute, and it was great to finally see it completed.

Thank you to the nine NCWR members (Lance, Everett, Megan, Josh, John, Tanya, Kent, David, and myself) who braved the heat in the upper 90s, and the ride down/up Baby Head Hill (i.e., Gold Valley OHV Trail), which seems to have been a little worse for wear.

After the trail work, many stopped in a Packer Saddle to have a cool swim. After that, we were fed pulled pork sandwiches and plenty of ice-cold beverages. After dinner, the games began.

With the help of volunteers and organizations like the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, we're not only able to keep our trails open, but we're also able to expand them.

NCWR Sawyer Recertification

On Saturday, April 5th, 15 of our NCWR sawyers spent the day in Tahoe National Forrest getting recertified by the US Forest Service. This included cutting downed trees similar to what we encounter in our trail cleanup days. We also worked on "challenging" scenarios to help increase our skills and be safe while cutting downed trees. Many new tips and tricks were learned by everyone.

The recertification was led by Bill Aaron, Sawyer Extraordinaire, and 5 other Sawyer instructors with the Tahoe National Forrest.

A huge thank you to Bill and his team for this invaluable instruction and recertification.

Sugar Pine Trail Work on February 22nd, 2025

Great day to be in the woods logging out Foresthill. We had 8 sawyers and 20 swampers.

Not sure how many tanks of gas or total tree count, but it was a bunch. Encountered a good amount of snow at about 5k feet and wasn't sure if we could punch through, but we did.

Lunch was awesome and thank you Alicia and Melissa.

Big thank you to everyone who came out to help, it was a good day!!

2024 Nevada County Woods Riders Christmas Party

Our annual Christmas party was held this year at the Golden Empire Grange in Grass Valley on Saturday, December 14th after the 2024 Nevada County Toy Run.

Besides good food, albeit "slightly" late, great company, and a White Elephant Gift Exchange, everyone had a good time.

Post Labor Day Ride - 9/6/2024 to 9/9/2024

This year's 3-day moto camping ride started on Friday, September 6th, 2024, at the Rood Center in Nevada City. Fifteen riders began the epic adventure on bikes of all sizes, styles, and colors on a ride to Chester with camping in Quincy.

There was plenty of dust, dirt, sweat, and smiles.

While fifteen people started the event, five did finish the route dirty and with huge smiles.

What a great weekend spending time with my moto family.

I am ready for next year's ride, which will have a few twists that we'll keep secret until the announcement next summer.

Thanks for a great weekend and ride.

Thanks to our sponsors
